About Troop 412
Troop 412 is sponsored by the Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Fountain Valley, which is located on Ward Street between Warner and Slater Avenues in Fountain Valley. The meetings are held on Monday nights from 7 - 8:30 p.m. The Parent Committee meeting takes place monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 7 - 8:30 p.m.
The troop currently consists of about 25 active members, and since 1976, more than 75 troop members have attained the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.
Where we have been
Troop outings are generally held monthly, and these outings have included activities such as backpacking trips, tailgate camping trips, rock climbing, rocket launching, snow camping, visiting a military base, horseback riding, visiting a ghost town, field trips to companies, and orienteering trips. In addition, the troop participates in an annual Summer Camp, Camporee, and Scout-O-Rama. The troop also participates in various fundraisers and service projects.
How we keep it going
The fundraisers have included bake sales and an annual Christmas tree sale for fundraising. Service projects have included Scouting-for-Food, Christmas caroling for seniors, Eagle projects, and an annual Troop Service Project at O'Neil Park. Affiliated with the troop is the Venture Crew of 412, which is a co-ed program for youth of ages 14 - 20.
A Family-Oriented Troop
Our troop is family oriented and encourages the parents to participate in our scouting events. Many of the tailgate outings allow for the entire family to take part in the activities.
